How to use voice to text in Claude on Windows with Voktik.
Last checked 4th October 2026
Claude gives better answers when you give it the full picture: the background, what you've tried, and what you want back. Saying all that is often easier than typing it. With Voktik, click in Claude's message box, hold Ctrl+Win, say your prompt, and let go. It lands in the box tidied, ready for you to read and send.
Dictate a prompt into Claude, step by step
- Click in the message box, in the Claude desktop app or on claude.ai in your browser.
- Hold Ctrl+Win and say your prompt.
- Let go. The prompt arrives a moment later: ums and ers out, punctuation in, your words kept.
- Read it, then press Enter to send.
The AI prompt style: a ramble in, one clear prompt out (Pro)
Spoken requests wander. The AI prompt style tidies yours and keeps what matters:
- every detail, name, number, file name and technical term, kept exactly;
- repeats, false starts and fillers taken out, and if you correct yourself ("make it 300 words, no, 200"), only the correction stays;
- one clear paragraph, or numbered steps when you dictate steps ("first… second…");
- no greeting or sign-off added, and nothing summarised.
On Pro, the ready-made AI rule switches it on for you in the Claude desktop app and on claude.ai, as well as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and other AI chats in your browser.
On the free plan, your prompt is tidied in your everyday style instead: fillers out, punctuation in.
It types your prompt. It's built not to answer it.
Say "can you explain why this keeps failing" and you get the question, typed, ready for Claude to answer. Voktik's tidying step is told never to answer or carry out what you said, and a check pastes your own words if the result reads like a reply.
Long brain-dumps, hands-free
For a long brief or a problem you're stuck on, you don't have to hold the key.
- Press Ctrl+Win+Space once.
- Talk for as long as you need, up to 10 minutes in one dictation.
- Press Ctrl+Alt+P to pause while you think, and again to carry on.
- Press Ctrl+Win+Space again to finish. The whole prompt arrives at once, tidied.
If you go quiet for a minute, Voktik stops listening and types what it has.
Project names and jargon, spelled right
Add your project names, people, tools and terms to your Dictionary once, with what Voktik mishears them as, and they're spelled your way every time after.
The free AI and coding word pack adds common names in a click, such as Claude Code, Anthropic, GitHub and TypeScript. It turns "cloud code" into "Claude Code", but leaves "cloud" alone, because people say "cloud".
Using Claude for code?
Voktik can't tell the Claude app's chat from its Code tab, so both get the AI prompt style. If you mostly use it for code, move the Claude app into the Coding rule on the Styles page. Claude Code in a terminal or VS Code gets the Coding style already. Both styles are Pro.
Tips for prompts by voice
- Say it in order: the background first, then what you want, then the rules ("under 200 words", "British spelling", "as a table").
- Say "new line" where you want a break.
- Read it once before you send.
FAQ
Does Voktik work in the Claude desktop app and on claude.ai?
Yes. Both have a text box, and Voktik types wherever your cursor is. On Pro, the AI rule recognises both.
Does Voktik read my conversations with Claude?
No. It types what you said into the box. To pick the style, it reads the app's name or the browser tab's title on your PC.
Is the AI prompt style free?
No, it's a Pro style. On the free plan, holding the key, hands-free and the dictionary all work, and your prompts are still tidied.
How long can one prompt be?
Up to 10 minutes of talking in one dictation. Long dictations count towards the 2,000 free words a week like any other. Pro has no weekly limit.
