Speech to text in other languages, with Voktik.

Voktik types what you say in 100 languages. Pick the ones you speak, or let it detect the language each time. With Write in, a Pro feature, you can speak one language and get the text in another: say an email in English, and it lands in German.

All of this is in Settings > Dictation > Languages.

Choose the languages you speak

1. Open Settings > Dictation > Languages and select Language.
2. Choose Detect automatically, or tick the languages you speak. If you tick several, the first is tried first.
3. Close the list. That's it: dictate as normal.

Accuracy varies by language. If Voktik keeps hearing one language as another, tick only the ones you use, rather than detecting automatically.

Follow my keyboard language is a free switch in the same section. Turn it on, and Voktik listens for whichever language your Windows keyboard is set to. Switch with Windows key + Space, as you do for typing.

British or American spelling

English spelling sets "colour" or "color", and "organise" or "organize". It follows your Windows region unless you choose British or American.

Speak one language, type in another (Pro)

Write in turns what you say into another language as it's typed.

1. Open Settings > Dictation > Languages > Write in.
2. Choose the language you want the text in, for example German.
3. Dictate in English. The text lands in German.

To go back, choose The language I speak. Write in needs Clean-up switched on, because the clean-up step does the translating.

A translated greeting is translated too: "Hi Anna" can become "Hallo Anna" in German.

A key for each language (Pro)

With Language keys, each language gets its own key: hold one for English and another for German. Select Add a language key to set one up, up to 10.

A language for each app (Pro)

A style rule can also carry a language, so a German client's email app or website always gets German. Open Styles, select a rule or Add a rule, and pick a Language.

Is dictating in another language free?

Yes. Picking your languages, detecting them automatically and following your keyboard language are all free. Write in, language keys and a language for each app are Pro.

Can I mix two languages in one day without changing settings?

Yes. Tick both, or choose Detect automatically, and Voktik works out the language for each dictation.

Will the app's screens change language?

No. Voktik's screens are in English. Only your dictations change language.
